Question & Answer Interview

1. What is a typical day of work like for you?

I am not a creature of habit so there is no such thing as a typical day for me. The only constant, I can be certain of, are my three dogs waking me up to ask for their morning treats. After that first responsibility is taken care of, I usually go straight to checking my many text, messages, and emails.. I work with people in different time zones all over the world, so I have no set hours of business. I work at all hours of the day and night, but I still have tremendous flexibility in my schedule. My days are usually filled with conference calls, writing assignments, and interviews. I am so incredibly grateful to be able to do the work I do while also being able to spend quality time with those whom I love doing what I love.

2. What are your motivating factors?

Love and kindness are my greatest motivating factors. Love for my daughters, my pets, my friends and my family around the world is why I do all I do. My speaking, writing, the Be Line Products, and my work with the Desire to Inspire Foundation all give significant meaning and purpose in my life. I just finished writing the introduction to The Be…Planner/Journal and I included one of my favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson that inspires me to be the very best person I can be. “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of the intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child,a garden patch,or a redeemed social condition; to know that one life has breathed easier because you lived here. This is to have succeeded.” This is what motivates me.

3. How can others reach you to work with you?

I love hearing from people who want to live their best lives for themselves and for others. We can be found at www.desiretoinsirefoundation.org and www.thebelineproducts.com. We are also on Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin at Desire to Inspire Foundation or you can find me personally on Facebook and Linkedin at Dawn Airhart Witte.

4. What is your earliest memories of being an author?

Making the decision to write a book was a little scary but then I learned that beyond the scary thing is where all of the magic lies. I have learned so much about writing books and about life in general since my first book, “Be… : A Collection of Love with Friends to Inspire a Kindness Evolution.” I wanted my books to help people be their best selves and live lives full of purpose and passion. When I was thinking of the title of my book I thought about the Seven Deadly Sins. I always like to come from a place of sharing what we could do rather than what we should not do. I chose seven words that we can chose to be to live into our highest calling while making the world a better place. Choosing to be love, kind, strong, genuine, happy, inspired, and grateful truly enriches our lives. I am a firm believer that we are here for each other and we can use our lives to be the change we wish to see simply by who we choose to be.

5. What can you tell us about your latest book/publication?

We just released “The Recipes for Being; The Power of Kind,” with the rest of the series to follow shortly. RECIPES FOR BEING is a unique and fun pocket coloring journal series. The flagship book, Recipes for Being: The Power of Seven, was published in 2019 as a collaborative publishing project (aka anthology or crowdsourced book) similar to the “Chicken Soup” books. Seven life coaches each provided a wonderful chapter using one of the Recipes for Being power words: kind, grateful, inspired, happy, strong, genuine and love. We are inviting aspiring authors to write their own book showcasing one of our seven power words.

We are also relaunching “Be ...: A Coloring Journal Planner That Celebrates Living a Life of Purpose by Design” with colorful new planner pages which should be available any day. I am so thrilled to launch this Journal/Planner to help people be their very BEst selves by tapping into their unique soul’s purpose using my seven magical words which we can all choose to BE; love, grateful, kind, strong, inspired, genuine, and happy.

6. What are your top 5 authors: Dead or Alive?

Reading Laura Lynn Jackson’s first book, The Light Between Us” was the beginning of my personal journey into self-discovery. Her second book, “Signs; The Secret Language of the Universe” is also life changing.

Jan Grobler has written a book called “Get the Hell Out of Your Own Way” which is another one of my favorite books because it is transformational and his love for humanity comes out in his writing.

“The Agony and the Ecstasy” by Irving Stone made a profound impact on me when I was in high school.

Dr. Seuss is one of my all-time favorite authors because the messages in his books are timeless and inspiring.

Last but not least, Dr. Bruce Lipton has written several books and I love everything he writes and speaks about. He is a brilliant thought leader and has made an indelible impact on the way I understand the world.
