Musical Talent Matt Westin!

Interview with Matt Westin and The Now Legacy! 🎥🎥

1. What is a typical day/week like for you?

My days/weeks have been unpredictable for years since I left engineering for good. But recently, I’ve been working part time wiring/rewiring houses and businesses with a couple family electrical companies, then I hit the gym (at least 5 days a week), then I try to relax in the evenings. Those long days at work and the gym can be pretty exhausting! I bowl with my brothers and my cousin in a league on Tuesday nights, then we grab a few beers at the local fire hall afterwards. Thursday and Sunday nights I blow off steam, laugh, and drink beer at a local brewery with some of my very best friends. I DJ almost every Friday night and occasionally on Saturday nights. I’m looking forward to getting my band up an running so I can add rehearsal and performances to my weekly agenda!

2. What is your best memory of the start of your career?

When I finished recording lead vocals on my debut album “Legacy”, I took off the headphones, took a deep breath with tears in my eyes, and walked outside to be alone and talk to God and my dad up in Heaven. I had to thank them and just let it all out. A year long process of healing, rebuilding myself, and creating this album to honor my father had finally come to this incredible milestone. I had to step back and look up at the sky and realize what I had just accomplished and how I got there. It was deeply emotional and spiritual.

3. What advice would you give to someone wanting to pursue this career?

Stay true to yourself, surround yourself with good people who believe in you and support you, and never stop learning or improving yourself. If you are willing to put in the work and your heart is in the right place, special things can happen.

4. How can you be booked for show/appearance?

I plan to tour later this year once my band is up and running. Booking for shows and appearances can be done through my promoter/publicist Michael Stover at MTS Management Group (michael at mtsmanagementgroup.com)5. What’s your favorite album from another artist? I honestly don’t know if I can pick just one. I have so many influences and artists I’ve enjoyed my whole life from a very wide range of genres. I also have compilation and greatest hits albums from lots of artists. But to name a few: Johnny Cash, Toby Keith, Elvis, Sinatra, The Doors, Queen, Metallica, Rob Zombie etc. and so on. Seriously, a very wide variety.

6. What song of yours are you most proud of? Tell us about your music

I’m proud of each and every song, since each one provided a unique challenge, and each one was specifically chosen to be on my album. However, I am happy with my choice of “Our Redneck Of The Woods” to be my first single off the album. It represents a lot of what I stand for and speaks to the kind of artist and man that I am and aspire to be.

7. What is your biggest accomplishment?

How do you define the “biggest”, because I’ve accomplished a lot in different areas of my life? I have 2 engineering degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, which was without a doubt my most expensive and difficult accomplishment. But I am absolutely most proud of releasing my album “Legacy”. It’s going to live on forever, which I can’t say for my engineering skills!

8. Name your top 5 dead or alive favorite artist of all time.

Sinatra, Elvis, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, and Toby Keith

9. What’s your next marketing moves for “Our Redneck Of The Woods”?

Well, I’m going to continue to promote on social media and in interviews, but the next big thing is to perform live and gain exposure in a more personal way. I wish I could say I plan to do a music video, but it’s just not currently in my budget. I think this song would be perfect for a music video, so if the opportunity arises, I’m going to jump at that chance!

10. How can you maintain your exposure/ are currently signed or independent?

I’m currently signed with MTS Records, which is an independent music label that secured distribution for my album and is the engine that runs my publicity at the moment. MTS has been fantastic with getting me interviews all around the world in places like the UK, Australia, Singapore, Italy, South Africa, Canada, and all over the good ol’ US of A.
